Learning to Trust Again

It's Amazing to me, that at the age of 54, I could be admitting that I had a difficult time trusting people. Through the woundedness as a teen, young adult and adult, in romantic relationships and in friendships, coupled with the ways I learned to express (or not express) myself, and the mechanisms I learned over the years to protect myself from further hurt, IT's NO WONDER!
No matter what age you are, no matter how deep the hurt, there is no way around it but through it. The challenge in going through it, is not to get stuck in it. We all have blindspots, and need others to help us in those areas. My advice: FIND YOUR PEOPLE! Small groups of like-minded individuals will help you feel emotionally safe. Safe for what you might ask? Safe to be authentic to who God created you to be; to be yourself and STILL be accepted. To be able to take off your mask and be fully known and fully loved.
Some people live a lifetime never having found this, because they didn't have the courage to look. Or, if they had the courage, they didn't have the commitment to themselves to see it to the end.
I can say, that having found this - it is the game changer in TRUE change. We were made for community. We were made to walk with others. Father, Son and Spirit, show us how beautiful it can be.
With Great Risk, come GREAT REWARD! Grace & Peace
